Last night I had dreams about each of the following:
- It snowed.
- I worked an entire shift
- I watched The White Stripes on VH1 performing a cover of Tom Petty’s “Running Down a Dream”
- My right thumb had been replaced with a clothespin
Note to self: Don’t eat Cocoa Pebbles before going to bed.
I love The Decemberists. I mean, I really, really love The Decemberists. There aren’t many bands out there that use words like “ubiquitous” and “gadabout” in their music. The bigger beauty of them is that they are one of the few bands out there that really makes progression in their sound from album to album without ever changing their sound. Their skill just gets more intense and their songs richer, lovely, and full of the beauty that is the poetic, musical genius of Colin Meloy. sigh I could go on for hours but I won’t.
As far as your dream, you should write to Colin Meloy. Maybe he will write a song about your clothespin thumb. Stranger things have been known to happen.
Davey VaxCave lost his thumb for a clothespin lookin’ out upon the snowy winter day oh what a winter day …
(sung to the tune of Billy Liar … i’d write more of the song, but I’m tired.)
