Summer Illness

How in the world did I get sick in the middle of the summer? Regardless, I went to the doctor yesterday and the strept throat test was negative. Negative is a positive in this case.

On an up note he suggested I gargle with heavy salt water. It’s like opening your mouth while in the ocean. Ugh. But it does seem to help. I’ve also started taking Alavertâ„¢ to get rid of the massive pressure in my sinuses. It works like a charm, but it is giving me some serious dry mouth.

I’m not going anywhere with this. I’m bored enough to post, but not bored enough to do anything productive. sigh

Net neutrality amendment defeated in committee

Why?

While not the end of the road for net neutrality, the latest vote isn’t a good sign. From the article: ‘The Senate Commerce Committee on Wednesday rejected a network neutrality amendment, handing cable and phone broadband access providers yet another victory over a coalition that has demanded the application of strict nondiscrimination standards against entities that control access to millions of Internet users. The panel voted 11 to 11 to defeat an amendment sponsored by Sens. Olympia Snowe (R-Maine) and Byron Dorgan (D-N.D.), who had backing from Google, Yahoo!, eBay, Amazon, Microsoft and other firms that deliver voice, video, and information services and applications.’ All 10 Democrats on the committee, as well as Republican co-sponsor Sen. Snowe, voted for the amendment. The other 11 Republicans voted against.

Pearl Jam Concert

Having won tickets from WXDX to see Pearl Jam, we trekked to Mellon Arena on Friday night. Thanks to The X for allowing us to get tickets for free, however, this is my last dealing with them. They took off the one DJ (Alan Cox) that I like. In protest, I will no longer be soliciting their station. Good work Clear Channel.

Meanwhile, at the Pearl Jam concert… we had a great time. The show was very good. Eddie Vedder still has the voice of the Versus and Ten days. It was great to hear all the hits and some of the newer stuff. The only song that I wanted to hear that they didn’t play was Rearview Mirror. Oh well. The show was great regardless.

I’ll be buying the show from their website. It’s only $10!!

Frustration

Dear Music Flunkies,

The title is “Baba O’Riley,” not “Teenage Wasteland.” Stop calling it that. You sound like an idiot.

Hugs and puppy dogs, -Me
