I was recently contacted by a new aquaintance and wanted to add him to my AIM buddy list. I attempted to add him but a very strange error was returned. It read “Could not add <buddyname> to your buddy list. (Feedbag error 17).” Feedbag?
I was then enlightened by the wonderful folks at Unsanity. Apparently AOL only allows you to have 150 buddies on your list. After that it returns a feedbag error of type 17. Very strange syntax choice. Anyone have any idea why it would be called a ‘feedbag error’.

Property Bag Sibling?… In Visual Basic, when you create controls, you use property bags. I’d assume the feedbags are pretty much the same thing, just a different name. Based on my experience with Microsoft programmers and AOL staff, I wouldn’t be surprised to find out that it was named feedbag based on some inside joke.
