Customer Service.

Recently, I heralded the customer service of Garmin. Now I bring you a story of fabulous service from Apple.

As some of you may know, we own a Titanium Powerbook. It’s an amazing machine and we love using it. I’m typing this post on it from the comfort of bed. The lower left hinge on the lid of the laptop separated from the screen about a week ago. We were distressed by this but were hopeful as the machine is still under warranty. I called Apple on Monday around 2pm and the said they would send an Airborne Express box to me. Tuesday at noon the box arrived and I packed it up, called Airborne Express and it was on the road at 4:30pm. So today, I got the box back in the mail. I thought it had been sent back as undeliverable. But lo and behold, there it was. Looking better than it ever had. From what I can tell they replaced the entire screen and hing mechanism. Not bad for only being out of my possession for 45 hours. This is the reason that I love Apple. You get the whole package: quality hardware, great customer service, and a satisfying experience.

New layout

You may have noticed the new layout. I hope you enjoy it. I just now got around to pointing it out to those of you who might be blind. I also just got the commenting system back up and running, so go ahead and give it a whirl. I’ll have more of a post in the near future regarding some things I’m working on. In the meantime, go salivate.

Baseball is back!

I’ve had more fun watching postseason baseball this year than I have since the early 90’s. Back then the Pirates and the Braves used to duke it out in the postseason. It felt great to have the whole city behind the local team. Now I get to live vicariously through the Red Sox fans, namely, Jason over at binarytoybox.com. We’ve had some hilarious IM conversations while the games occur. He was even nice enough to give me play by play when I was still at work late one night.

I feel awful for the Cubs fans. I feel awful for that poor fan who touched the foul ball. I DON’T feel bad for Alex Rodriguez. Wil Wheaton said it right, shades of Buckner. Shades of Buckner.
